Wild Oaks Kennel

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cavaliers are mild mannered dogs, so they usually handle the flight process very well. We are comfortable with several airlines including American, Continental, and Delta, and we can use several other airlines as needed. We always try to find the best flight for the puppy--a direct flight if possible with the least possible travel time. The airports we use are OKC in Oklahoma City, OK, DFW in Dallas, TX, and sometimes LAW in Lawton, OK. American's hub city for this area is in Dallas, so we find many direct flights with them out of DFW.

There are temperature restrictions for all airlines except Continental. Continental uses temperature controlled vehicles to transport the pets to and from the airplanes, so they are not under the USDA restrictions like the other airlines. For the other airlines, the USDA requires that the ground temperatures at all cities included in the flight be between 20°F and 85°F. Delta allows pet travel on direct flights and flights through Atlanta up to 100°F. Temperatures are checked on www.weather.com; they give an hourly temperature prediction for any city up to 48 hours in advance. I can book Continental flights any time in advance; the other airlines must be booked within a few days of the expected departure date.

I make the reservation and send you an e-mail with all the necessary information. Only the person I list will be able to claim the puppy, so to ensure safety you will need to show your driver's license or other government issued picture ID in order to pick up and take home your new puppy.
